The entrance of Anawim Foundation

February of last year I was already discerning which place to celebrate my birthday with and my first choice was a group of kids in our community because that was closer. However, while I was browsing on Facebook, a link shared by Bo Sanchez caught my attention. A group of old people that struck my heart and while looking at them, I remembered my grandma that gave me the urge to choose the place. I felt the being there would give me the feeling that she’s still alive. Without hesitations, I flew to Manila from Bicol with full of excitement and questions. Questions like; what’s waiting there for me? How does it feel like to be in that place?

After hearing their stories, I just felt how lucky we are to have our families who really love us so dearly. Who takes care of us that sometimes we took for granted. I’m beholden on how our grandma raised us and thought us the value of family. Those lolas and lolos, they might’ve lost their real family but they’ve been blessed of having a new one. You can visit them (Anawim) and share your love with them. They seek for love, hunger for friends and they look forward that one day their family will remember and visit them. There's no exemption and you can be their family too.

I admire the organizer of this foundation, for putting-up and maintaining Anawim. Thank you for opening your home to us and welcoming us ecstatically. It's an honor and a wonderful opportunity for us to experience this precious moment. May you be able to help more abandoned elderly people and be their home. May God bless and guide your mission. May God touch more hearts to support this organization.

(Thank you to my friend, Le-an for offering her ride and be part of this journey. She’s my answer to my prayer when I was having issues on how to go there. In every daunting decision or choices we make don’t be dishearten for He will always equip us.)

P.S. This was the part where they serenade us...just in time when you really have to hear the message for you. WHEN I FALL IN LOVE AGAIN. Thank you Lola for the lovely voices.

I pray that I'll be given another chance to visit them again and this time the condition of my heart will be different.
